Politicians Lie. Facts Don’t.
Mayor Monica Zoltanski recently claimed that “outside dark-money PACs and developer interests” are interfering in Sandy elections.
She’s right about the "outside dark-money PACs and developer interests," but she forgot to mention that those "outside dark-money PACs and developer interests" are funding HER campaign. To the tune of $63,456!!
That’s right. Since 2018, Mayor Zoltanski has accepted over $63,000 from PACs, unions, political organizations, and special interest groups — including one that has been recommended for federal investigation by the IRS for tax fraud.
Let’s break it down:
$25,750.00 from developers
$6,000.00 from PACs (including dark-money PACs)
$13,156.76 from anti-gondola special interest groups
$5,050.00 from Democrat/liberal groups
$13,500.00 from unions and other political organizations
To put that into perspective, Monica’s recent campaign finance disclosures show that she has already spent over $100,000 this election cycle — all to protect her power, high-priced salary, and the interests of her donors.
Meanwhile, Residents for Sandy’s Future is a grassroots, citizen-led coalition PAC made up of local residents, business leaders and both current and former city employees. In total, we've raised ~$4,000. We'd hardly say this makes us a "well-funded outside dark money PAC" as Monica likes to claim.
The numbers don’t lie — but politicians do. Do better Monica Z.
